In conversation with Zen

We’re proud to have collaborated with Zen Internet for years, always focusing on technological and service innovation within the telecoms industry.

We were honoured to have our MD Wail Sabbagh reflect on this work with Zen’s Richard Tang, in the latest episode of his brilliant interview series, profiling telecoms’ best-known business leaders.

From our ‘lightbulb’ moment in 2005, when we created our first gateway to connect providers to the new BT Openreach network, through to evolution of The Fibre Café and Elevate, we’ve always strived to make the lives of our customers easier.

It was great to have the opportunity to sit down and talk everything Strategic Imperatives, telecoms evolution, and future ISP, Altnet and Network dynamics with you, Richard!

Welcome to The Fibre Café!

In October we announced that our latest B2B ISP customers, Redcentric and Talk Straight Group, have joined The Fibre Café!

Building on an already impressive list of new Fibre Café customers who have already come on board this year, Redcentric and Talk Straight will use The Fibre Café platform to take advantage of enhanced automation capabilities and streamlined access to the UK’s FTTx ecosystem at a national level, bringing with them 24,500 new business connections.

We’re proud to service ambitious ISPs looking to increase their connectivity, and our latest partnerships continue to make The Fibre Café the go-to solution for connecting ISPs with service providers – a process integral to making a truly connected Britain a reality.

Out and About: ISPA Conference

This month, we were pleased to play a key role in the ISPA UK Conference 2024, where our Director of Strategy Donal Hanrahan joined a fireside chat moderated by ISPA Chair Steven Leighton, taking a deep dive into the topic of ‘Shaping the future of the UK fibre market – the role of integration and software’.

Within the session, Donal discussed a range of valuable partnerships with fantastic The Fibre Café customers, including PXC, Netomnia & Brsk, and AllPoints Fibre, and how our platform plays a key role in their growth strategies.

Of course, the facilitation of network aggregation – a long time painpoint for our industry – was also discussed, with Donal providing key insights into how the crucial role of efficient facilitation, championed by The Fibre Café, enables greater opportunities for the UK fibre market.

We’re at that time of the year when our sector is looking ahead to 2025, predicting the trends that will continue, new dynamics that will emerge, and how businesses ensure they’ve put the right foot forward heading into the new year. Donal highlighted the ongoing consolidation of altnets, and the need for greater software standardisation, as two seismic shifts, and how Strategic Imperatives’ solutions are equipped to deal with them.

We are proud to be an official Software Partner of ISPA UK – thank you for an excellent conference. We are looking forward to our continued collaboration and seeing everyone in November at the ISPA Awards dinner in London.

On the clock…

People are the best part of Strategic Imperatives, so when this is confirmed through feedback from our customers, it’s always a pleasure to hear.

This month, we heard from the great folks over at Wavenet, who recounted the brilliant experience working with Ash Potter, an Imperatives’ veteran and a driving force in our excellent support team.

Ash’s work over the last few months provided an unparralled speed-of-registration to ORDI, part of the Openreach database. Working quickly to resolve over a hundred different queries for inventory reports, Ash’s expertise and professionalism helped resolve the issue, enabling Wavenet to deliver its project at pace.

Thank you, Ash, for your continued hard work. A special thanks Abbie Vanham, Wavenet’s Data Coordinator, not only for being valued customer but also taking time out of her day to share our most recent plaudit for unrivalled customer support!

In the news!

We were pleased to open October’s edition of Comms Business and see not one but two Strategic Imperatives contributions.

Our latest product announcement, Elevate for ISPs, has been covered on page 12, exploring its unique features designed for progressive wholesale and retail ISPs looking to scale:

– Manage complex pricing structures
– Streamline customer and revenue insights
– Simplify contract management

On page 18, a write-up of our Connected Britain roundtable, Wholesale empowerment and the future of wholesale in the UK fibre market, has been included as part of an engaging feature on the progress being made toward Gigabit Britain.

Many thanks to Comms Business for covering us in another brilliant monthly read.

Sitting at the heart of the fibre community, we love seeing headlines highlighting the brilliant developments across our sector, whether it’s from companies we’ve worked with for decades, or others we admire.

Within October came a flurry of exciting news that will shape our industry going forward.

Here are some of the stories that grabbed our attention:
